EECMA Award

The Aachen Christmas Market is delighted to have received a special European accolade: on 22 April 2026, it was one of just twelve Christmas markets to be awarded the ‘Excellent European Christmas Market’ quality seal.

The seal is awarded by the European Excellent Christmas Market Association (EECMA), a European non-profit organisation that recognises outstanding Christmas markets and Christmas towns. Criteria assessed include the quality of the concept, tradition, sustainability, cultural diversity, the experiential nature of the event, and fair and collaborative dealings with all stakeholders.

The award recognises the Aachen Christmas Market’s exceptional commitment to creating a harmonious overall experience and upholding high standards of quality. It also serves as a tribute to everyone who helps organise the Christmas Market year after year, ensuring it remains a special experience for visitors from all over the world.
